Welcome back guys, So basically, for the last two years I have been doing GCSE Art and Design and have had to do lots of course work for it. I have also had to do another project which is my exam work and I chose to do 'Personal History'. I would like to show you my final exam project and hopefully, in another post, show you some of my course work for art, as well as my finished exam art. Of course, some of the work is not my favourite and does need a lot of work to get it where I want it to be but I still felt like posting them to show how artists are humans and yes, although they are perfectionists, they do have some work that need improving. I am hoping that my work will inspire you and show you what GCSE art is like. So here you go, my GCSE Art and Design exam preparation work- Title PageArtist studiesInspirationMedia ExperimentsSo there you go guys, that basically sums up how amazing yet hard GCSE Art and Design is. I have only put some of my work up here as, especially photographs, show people's identities. Also, if you are thinking of taking Art, you will do about 3 projects for coursework as well as the exam work. Furthermore, in Art you will have to complete annotations on most pieces of your work, as well as complete an evaluation for every project.
I loved doing art as an option as it meant that I had something to do to relax while also not stressing about not doing work. If you are thinking about or have decided to take GCSE Art as one of your options, please be aware that it is not easy and that a lot of time does have to go into this, so if you are thinking of taking art because it will be a "doss", please remember that Art is time-consuming and it is definitely not a doss, infact it is probably the opposite!! However, if you love to take photos, paint, draw etc. and can see yourself doing it a lot then please pick Art because you will love it! Even if you feel like doing it to practise parts of art or to have something to do which isn't full of writing yet still fun, then try it out. Anyways, thank you guys for reading, and I will see you soon with another post! :)

Hey guys, welcome back to Artful Minds. I haven't posted in a while so I though that I should post another photography post.
Before we start I would like to remind you that all of these pictures have been taken by me and have been developed thanks to weebly's photograph editor. Anyway, here are my new photography pics #2. Hi guys, welcome back to my blog. Today I have decided to post some of my photos from Wales as it is one of my favourite places in the world and I honestly love it so much.
Anyways, here are the photos- Hey guys, just wanted to say sorry for getting this up late but anyways hope you enjoy. When writing, it can be hard to remember the character's actions as well as writing about their emotions or/and writing about them talking. It is also hard to match the right action with the right emotion or mood which you are trying to set. Body language is a combination between biological instincts and socialization, for instance socialization can vary widely depending on where that person comes from and what type of person that character is. Also, you might be reading this to tell what your friend is feeling to try to see if you can understand why or maybe you want to see if they are lying or not. So here are a few general body languages that you could use while writing or while trying to figure out what your friend is feeling: Hands & Arms Open palms often symbolise openness and honesty. Hiding Hands A character concealing their hands (behind the back or in a pocket) or busying their hands (carrying/doodling/cooking etc...) can be showing that they don't want to talk or they are hiding something. Crossed Arms If you can see fists then it means that the person is defensive and hostile. If you can see their thumbs sticking up (or see them at all) then they are defensive yet dominant. If you see the hands almost hugging the arms kind of thing then they are insecure, restrained and negative. When a person crosses their arms, they're hiding behind a barrier. Superior types may not cross their arms at all because they feel no need to be defensive and if they do it might be more to do with looking powerful more than anything else. People often have sneaky ways of crossing their arms and hiding themselves. This could be holding another part of their body like their arm or their other hand. Also, it could be by holding something like a bag or a hat. When people hold their hands or arms, it can indicate frustration and the higher up their hands (or hand on the arm) goes, the increase in frustration there is. Hands If someone has their fingers together and all fingers on both hands are touching but there is a gap between the palms, it indicates confidence and superiority. When someone is resting their head on their hand, if they have one finger on their cheek then they are in an evaluation pose, when the person is still interested in what is being said. However, if the person has a flat-palm support then they are bored. The chin stroke is a neutral evaluation; the person has neither negative or positive feelings about what they are hearing. The neck rub shows exhaustion, frustration or/and fear. Our natural instinct tells us to cover our mouth when we lie. As we grow older, the motion becomes less obvious. Face Someone who is generally smiling (not just faking it) will have wrinkles around the eyes. A tight-lipped smile shows the character has a secret or an opinion they don't want to share. Bending the head down and looking up and away is often used as a courtship symbol. This coy smile is considered sexy but also makes dominant personalities want to protect the person smiling. Raising the eyebrows shows submission, lowering them shows dominance. Where you put the characters eyebrows naturally when you design them can affect how the reader perceives them. A sideways glance shows interest and uncertainty, but its meaning depends lot on what it is combined with. What direction someone looks while trying to recall something often shows what they are thinking of. Also, it only happens for a split second. e.g. if they are trying to recall a picture then they will look up and to their left. If they are recalling a picture then they will look to their left. Furthermore, if they are recalling a feeling then they will look down and to their right. If they are talking to themselves then they will look down and to their left. Humans find dilated pupils most attractive. Dilated pupils are also a signal of attraction during courtship and a sign of general interest. Pupil sizes are found to correlate with problem solving; maximum dilation when the problem is solved. When one person catches another person's gaze, holds it and then looks to the side, it shows interest and the possibility of submission. Legs Many people know body language tricks about the face and how to fake a smile but there are a few tips about the lower body; legs often reveal a persons true intensions. A neutral position shows nothing. A common pose where on foot points where the person wants to go or points to who they think is the most attractive person in the group. A dominant position that says the person is not planning to leave. It also shows no fear. Crossed legs shows a closed or uncertain attitude. Crossed arms and crossed legs means no communication at all. Figure four position shows dominance. The leg twine is used to be shy and timid. Liars move their legs a lot. :) Hey guys! Welcome back to Artful Minds. I thought I would do something different today. As you well know this blog is for all-around subjects from GCSE's to subjects to do for fun like Cooking and Baking. However, I have gotten very intrigued in photography and even bought myself an actual photography picture (which I'm pretty pleased about as normally I waste all my money on food). So anyways this whole post will be full of my own photos that I have taken with my Camera. They will also be edited by using the weebly edit mode as it is so easy and fun to do. So anyways, here are my pictures: Signs: Objects: Out And About:Landscapes: Thank you guys for reading. If you like my blog or if you would like to make a suggestion on what I can do on my blog or if there is anything I can do to improve my blog then please let me know in the comments below.
:) Everything Everything is a book by Nicola Yoon (below). It is her first ever novel to be published. Visit her website at www.nicolayoon.com to find out more. Everything Everything is about a teenager named Maddy who is allergic to the world and has not left her house in seventeen years. The book is about how a next door neighbour moves in and how they both try to come together. The book is about love and how it can make you do crazy things that you never suspected. The Characters. As Maddy is allergic to the world, you do not meet too many characters. The only people you really get to know is Maddy herself, her mum, Carla- who is her friend and nurse- and Olly who is the next door neighbour. I have two favourite characters. One of them is Carla as she is kind and reminds me of a mum. The other is Olly, who has a funny personality and is kind but mysterious. I love the way Nicola Yoon has written the characters. This is because they are normal but in a mysterious and loving way, bringing the book to life. Story-line. This book has one of the best story-lines that I have ever read. It is so gripping it makes you want to keep reading and not put it down. The flow is excellent and it really gets you to feel for the characters. Scenes. Because Maddy has been trapped inside her house for seventeen years, the way Nicola portrays the scenes is exactly like what you would expect. Nicola focuses on the things that Maddy would do if she was real making the book seem real. The Emotion. Love, hate, hope, anxiety. Whatever the emotion you are thinking of, it is in this book. Nicola really makes you feel for Maddy and the others. Although I have laughed a lot at this book, it did not make me cry. This might just be me but the depth of the sadness did not bring tears to my eyes. Favourite Part. My favourite part is definitely the ending. It is so moving and touching that it ends the book very well. I cannot tell you a lot without giving it away but I will tell you that if you do not like to leave things on a cliff-hanger you will be very upset. However, it is one of the best cliff-hangings that I have ever read. Anything I Disliked? There were only two things I did not like with this book. One was that the depth of sadness was not great enough to make me cry. The other thing is that the story-line is a bit predictable so you might know what's coming, however it is still brilliant and nicely done. Who Should Read The Book?Preferably female teens should read this book but there is nothing wrong with others reading it too. If you like drama, love and adventuring, you would definitely love this book. Ratings. In my opinion, a 1 being terrible do not read and a 10 definitely read this book, Everything Everything would be an 8. This is because all though it is brilliant, I guessed the story-line so I did not have too much of a surprise. Spoilers. If you would like to know more about the book please read on, however it does have spoilers. Maddy is a teenage girl who had SCID (Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Disease). She has not left her house for seventeen years. She lives with her mum, who is a doctor, and her nurse Carla. She never goes outside and anyone who comes in, which is normally teachers, have to be decontaminated. One day a family move in next door with a boy named Olly. He tries to talk to Maddy and they fall in love. This book is all about how Maddy will do anything to try and be with him, even if it puts her own life at risk. However, is everything as it seems when she gets the unbearable truth near the end of the book. People will do anything and everything for love. Thank You For Reading. Thank you so much for reading my book review. I hope it gave you all the information you needed. If you would like to ask more questions about the book or want me to do a review for a different book, then please let me know it the comments below. Also, if you want me to post anything then please let me know in the comments as well.

4. Just Write Five Original Sentences. If you ever feel overwhelmed when writing an essay, calm down and go back to the basics. A standard three-point essay is made up of just five original sentences surrounded by supporting paragraphs that back up those sentences. So, if you start by writing the first five sentences then add information around them, you will find that it is a bit more stress-free and you also find that you get all the information you should in. |
5. Add A Lot Of Sources In.
Yes, you do need to write about what the subject is, however to get the best marks you must put in sources, explain what they are and why they are linked to what you are writing about. The more sources you put in, the more detail you can say about that subject and how it links into the question/s you are being asked.

6. Make Sure To Add An Introduction And A Conclusion.
When writing an essay on a timer, you just want to get all the information in. This is good, however without an introduction and a conclusion you cannot get the highest marks. I find that even if I do a small Introduction and then when everything else is done, go back and add more to it at the end, I get more marks then I would just adding more information in.

7. What, Why And How.
If you are struggling to try and get your point across on an argument or finding it hard to get the required word count, use the technique: What, Why and How. The trick is when writing an essay, answering a what question will make your essay ok. If you answer questions with a what and why in it, your essay will become good. However, if you add the answer to a how question, your essay will be one of the bests.

8. Don't Worry About Jumping Around With Your Work. When writing an essay, it is easy to just do structured paragraphs. The only problem with that is when it comes around to it, you do not link it back to what you have said beforehand, losing the mark. Even if you write a structured paragraph about one thing and then after that paragraph link it back to something you are about to write or what you have already written, you earn the extra marks. |
9. Some Words Just Will Not Work.
When writing an essay it's best to add good punctuation, spelling and grammar as it could get you about 3 extra marks. It is also good to add "wow" words or which are impressive words that you would not normally use and add them instead of "boring" words that we use all the time. For instance, instead of writing "but", you could write "however, on the other hand." etc.

10. It's Ok If You Use Wikipedia. When writing essays, you might find that you do not have the information you need and you don't know where to get the information from. If you are writing background research or trying to find sources you can go on Wikipedia. On the other hand, if you are trying to just get some information for your essay, use a different website- preferably one that only does subjects for the topic your on- as it will probably be more true than Wikipedia would be as anybody could write anything on that. |
Artful Minds Extra Fact:
I find that when I am writing an essay I always have a spare piece of paper on me to write things for later, ideas I thought of or even what I have already written to remind me for later on.
I also always have a bottle of water with me to keep me hydrated but never any fizzy drinks or drinks with caffeine in it as I find my mind gets too busy and I find that I miss out information.
If you found this helpful then make sure to come back again for my next post. Or even if there was something you thought I was missing, please leave a comment so I can improve my blog.
